Before you die? Its such a vague term now. I feel like I have seen mention of writing down all the things you want to do before you die and reading them religiously. I’ve done it and recently I verbalized what my written goals are and as all goes well I will need to be writing a new list in the next few months.

What seems like forever ago or more tightly translated, almost 10 years ago I was in my first days as a hot shot money raiser for Morgan Stanley, I was given the advice to write something motivating on my phone. So, I wrote “THE NEXT CALL COULD CHANGE YOUR LIFE”.

Thinking about that now 10 years later gives me motivation.

About 2 years ago I wrote a small note to myself that reads: HD, MBA, ESPNA, 40CAL, JUJU, TAP.

Those 22 symbols mean a lot to me, all of those letters signify some experience that I want to make my life more vibrant than it was yesterday. Each of those letters are specific in nature. I will verbalize them here for you to recognize how close I am to writing a new list.

HD:
Stands for Harley Davidson. This is most simple selfish thing that I want to do and will only occur when I have the time to do it. A friend of mine is experiencing this right now and I am paying attention to their obstacles to get familiarity with the processes I will encounter.

Its not as simple as buying the bike. I want to buy the bike and take a month to ride across the country. Solo. I want to breathe in the United States.

There is part of me that feels I have done this with my touring but, there is a part of me that cherishes the solitude and relaxation that comes with a solo creep.

MBA:
This is just a reminder of my competitiveness. I am here to crush in business. I am learning rapidly how to expand and manage my own assets. I am currently making a big bet on advertising, one that will pay big dividend for years to come. I am hedging that advertising bet with low cost consumer goods.

The bet on advertising is already paying dividends. It is giving me increased notoriety and in my approach that increased notoriety is a good thing. All press is good press. I agree to disagree on that one, I have recently come across a circumstance in the management of venue that has shown that light.

My number is 10 million. From there it gets much easier in terms of the comfort I will have in managing my own assets. A hero of mine is Hershey. An entire town was created, cared for, and has proved historically significant both in terms of lore and financial gain. I believe at my current pace I can achieve the 10 million mark by 2016.

ESPNA:
I want to be able to speak Spanish fluently. I have taken great steps to improve my vocabulary of this language and I have recently seen gains.

This past winter I was fortunate to be at the forefront of our all day breakfast chop spot at Mountain Creek and was as result in contact with many individuals who spoke Spanish as a first language. I continually pressed to learn nuevas palabras de mis gentes. Mis gentes es de Sur America, es de Chile, Colombia, Peru, y Argentina.

40CAL, JUJU, and TAP:
Those will be disclosed at a later date.

So, its anticipated most of these will be crossed in short order.

In any field, with any product or service, if it doesn’t resonate with your desired audience you need to consider improving the quality of the product or maybe you have the wrong audience. Immortal Technique said it best “there is a market for everything” and really its a matter of discovering where your market is and from there deciding if you are going to enjoy spending time there. If not then you need to consider improving or innovating on your existing product or service. Ultimately you need your product or service to be able to get the word of mouth excited about the project.

The balance in business is spending the appropriate amount of money in marketing to get yourself to that market and from there let it pop on its own. Fortunes are made and lost in this equation.
